World Bank appoints Senior Advisor on Reconstruction for the Middle East and North Arica Region

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) division of the World Bank would like to announce the appointment of Abdallah Al Dardari as the region’s Senior Advisor on Reconstruction. The appointment is an integral part of the Bank’s new strategy of preparing for post-conflict reconstruction before the fighting and conflict have ceased. In his new role, Mr. Al Dardari will report to the MENA Vice President and work closely with the Region's Chief Economist to lead the analytical work required to underpin the recovery and reconstruction programs. Mr. Al Dardari brings extensive analytical experience from his most recent positons with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which he joined in 2011 as Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Development and Globalization Division, and in 2014 assuming the role of the organization’s Deputy Executive Secretary. Mr Dardari also served as Syria’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs from 2005 to 2011.The appointment is effective February 16, 2017.
