World Bank appoints new Country Manager in Botswana

GABORONE, September 25, 2013 – The World Bank Group today introduced its newly appointed Country Manager in Botswana, Elene Imnadze, who will head the World Bank's office in Gaborone.

We are pleased to introduce Ms Imnadze who is a public sector specialist and has had a distinguished track record in developing World Bank programs to support country needs”, said Asad Alam, World Bank Country Director for Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland.

Ms Imnadze, will focus on furthering the dialogue with the Government of Botswana on a broad range of development issues. She will work closely with civil society, development partners, and the private sector to support the country's development effort.

Having joined the World Bank in the Georgia Country Office in 1998, Ms Imnadze, has led various strategic tasks, including the Georgia Country Partnership Strategy Progress Report, and was also the co-author of the 2012 Georgia book, "Fighting Corruption in Public Services".

Prior to assuming her new position in Botswana, Ms Imnadze worked as the World Bank’s Senior Public Sector Specialist in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Region.  She holds a Master's in Public Administration from Maxwell School of Syracuse University in the United States.

Ms Imnadze assumes her duties on September 25, 2013 and will be based in Gaborone.
