Course Announcement: Fundamentals of procurement in World Bank funded operations

Location: The World Bank Office in Moldova (20/1 Pushkin Street, Chisinau)
Date: June 27 (afternoon) - June 29, 2012

The World Bank is offering a training course on fundamentals of procurement in Bank-funded operations and procurement of Information Systems. The course aims at supporting the capacity building of participants in procurement aspects of Bank-funded project execution.

Target Audience: The training will target primarily staff of Bank funds Borrowers, as well as individuals interested in the topic. It is however not intended for individuals with advanced knowledge in procurement area.

For logistical purposes, the training will be restricted to 30 participants and will be offered in face to face class room environment. The course will be conducted in English. While simultaneous interpretation will be provided, participants are expected to have at least basic knowledge of English.

Course content: The World Bank has developed a comprehensive procurement training program focusing on such aspects as: review of procurement policies and procedures; major procurement methods (International Competitive Bidding, National Competitive Bidding, Shopping) and major consultant selection methods (Quality- and Cost-Based Selection, Least-Cost Selection, Selection based on the Consultants' Qualifications, Selection of Individual Consultants). On the last day of the course, the speakers will focus on procurement of Information Systems in Bank-funded operations, evaluation of bids and common issues encountered in the evaluation process.
