IDA Grant: US$50 million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project supports the Government’s efforts to help consolidate peace and promote economic stability and sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in the greater Great Lakes region of Africa. The specific Developmental Objectives of the project are to demobilize up to an estimated 150,000 ex-combatants and support their transition to civilian life, and contribute to the reallocation of Government expenditures from defense to social and economic sectors.
