  • This event is a public forum marking the annual observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Co-organized by the World Bank in Malaysia and the United Nations, the event will explore the challenges and partnership opportunities in the global quest to end poverty. It features Malaysian speakers from civil society, public institutions and the private sector to address issues of poverty and wellbeing on both local and global scales. The World Bank’s new ‘Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report 2018’ will be launched, complemented by a panel discussion and a presentation session showcasing the contributions of local NGOs to poverty eradication and socio-economic development.

The event will feature a photo exhibition by UNICEF Malaysia, taken by youth living in low-cost housing units. This is part of UNICEF Malaysia’s youth photography workshop under the ‘Children Without’ report.

End Poverty Day 2018 will also be an opportunity to engage directly with the supporting NGOs who will be displaying their community work, including a mini art exhibition by Yayasan Sejahtera.
