On March 18, 2014, Joachim von Amsberg, World Bank CFPVP, presented the new World Bank Group (WBG) strategy, twin goals and IDA to 12 Members of Parliament during a 'WBG Caucus' session in the German Parliament/Bundestag. MP Dagmar Woehrl, Chair of the parliamentary Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development (AwZ) hosted the event and Germany’s Executive Director, Ingrid Hoven, also attended. In a subsequent Q&A session, MPs sought to gain a better understanding of the WBG’s plans for deepening engagement in fragile and conflict-affected states and the internal impacts on the WBG of the reform process.  Other topics raised included safeguards and capacity building for civil society, extractive industry investments and the WBG’s policy on financing coal projects, and the Bank's in-country TA to strengthen local institutions. The WB Berlin Office and the AwZ jointly organize several WBG Caucus sessions annually with WBG Sr. Management on development topics of mutual interest for the WBG and Germany.
