Nandita Das' creativity in using the arts to advance social inclusion is well recognized internationally.  In this conversation, she will draw from her experience primarily in India, to reflect on the barriers to and openings for advancing social inclusion and influencing minds and attitudes.

The event will take forward the ongoing conversation in the Bank on advancing social inclusion - a key pillar of the World Bank Group's Strategy and intrinsic to the twin goals of eliminating extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity.  A recent World Bank report "Inclusion Matters: The Foundation for Shared Prosperity" brings out ways in which certain groups are excluded from markets, services and spaces.  It is also a forward looking document and highlights ways in which inclusion can be advanced.  It points out that the arts have a potent role in advancing inclusion by affecting minds and mindsets.
