Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in MENA: Breaking Barriers and Advancing Inclusion

The conference aims to address and define the roles of different stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to enhance financial inclusion for start-ups and micro-entrepreneurs in MENA and specifically in Egypt.

The conference is organized by the World Bank, the Business School of the American University in Cairo and the University of California – Berkeley: It takes place at AUC New Cairo Campus on February 12-13, 2014.

It aims to address and define the roles of different stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to enhance financial inclusion for startups and micro-entrepreneurs in MENA and specifically in Egypt. It combines a mixture of esteemed local and global experts representing government initiatives, development organizations, academia, venture capital funds, crowd funding platforms and experts as well as private sector initiatives focusing on entrepreneurship development.

A series of workshops will be conducted on the second day of the conference, targeting various stakeholders, and acting as a “call for action” to give more insight on the available support tools, means of enhancing them, and tackling the main shortcomings of entrepreneurial ecosystems in MENA.
