The Mayors Symposium will be an opportunity for Mayors and City Leaders, local government officials, partners (NALAS, Local Government Associations), and other key stakeholders to share what they have been able to achieve on their way to reform, and how the program helped them move forward.

WBI Austria Urban Partnership Program Mayors Symposium – Transformational Leadership in South-East Europe

Purpose/focus

The Symposium will culminate the first Phase of the WB-Austria Urban Partnership Program (UPP). It will showcase the main Program components, achievements to date, and lessons learned. It will be an opportunity for Mayors and City Leaders, local government officials, partners (NALAS, Local Government Associations) and other key stakeholders to share what they have been able to achieve on their way to reform, and how the Program helped them move forward. An underlying theme of the Symposium will be city leadership for inclusive urban development in South East Europe (SEE), with a focus on good governance, transparency, and accountability. The Conference will also showcase good practices in city leadership from Vienna/Austria, and from other cities in Europe.

Participants

Around 100 participants, Mayors from SEE Region, including some Mayors from UPP partner cities/municipalities, heads of finance departments, urban planners, local government associations (LGAs), NALAS, heads of finance departments, NGOs/CSOs

Guest speakers: transformational Mayors from European Cities who have implemented successful reforms which serve as good practices, applicable in SEE.
