The social assessment (SOA) document evaluated impacts on project affected peoples (PAPs), in this regard, the following mitigation measures will be applied : workers should commit not to involve in drug use and smuggling and also in trafficking women through the province borders; contractors will be responsible to teach their workers HIV / AIDS education and environmental management good practices; training of peoples on electricity safety should be provided before connecting electricity, particularly to newly accessed areas; power companies (PCs) should join efforts with the district Land Acquisition Board to define the assets affected by the land acquisition for the safety corridor; to ensure a fair and transparent land acquisition process construction phase will begin after the land acquisition process is completed and agreed with participating community members; enhance protection to poor and vulnerable groups, particularly women in general, single women headed households and the elderly, because the literacy rate among them is particularly lower than the other groups; and finally, new constructions should avoid sensitive places such as religious temples, banyan trees, where ethnic minorities (EM) worship their spirits, it is recommended for the contractor to consult the village chief or village elders before the preparation or design of the project. Show Less -

The Danang Priority Infrastructure Investment Project (Danang PIIP) is a multi-sectoral project including four key components as follows: infrastructure for poverty... Show More + alleviation; infrastructure for environmental improvement; roads; and capacity strengthening. Due to the nature of the project, a compensation entitlement policy consists of the following: A total of 48 households are affected due to the loss of agricultural land, of these there is not any displacement households (DHs) that have permanent land use rights for the affected land. All DHs will be entitled to compensation at 60% of replacement cost. Of the affected households 576 have permanent land use rights and permits for the land. These displaced persons (DPs) will be entitled to compensation at 100% of replacement cost. A total of 628 DHs are affected by the loss of structures, partially or severely. Of these, 392 DHs are affected by only partial loss of their structures. Remaining structures are viable for continued use. All the DHs regardless of the legal status of the structures will be entitled to compensation for affected part at replacement cost plus repair allowance for rehabilitation of their remaining structures. For rent dwelling houses in the resettlement areas in cases where there are no resettlement houses to be arranged for them at land recovery time, there will be arranged temporary resettlement or received a support of 500.000 VND/HH for 9 months (6 months to rent house and 3 months to construct house after receiving resettlement land). Out of the total of 628 affected houses, 48 houses also have small shops in front. 44 DHs of these will be affected partially due to the project. These DPs will also be entitled to compensation for loss of incomes for only the transition period. 166 DPs are affected by the loss trees. The development objective of the System Efficiency Improvement, Equitization, and Renewables Project (SEIERP), additional financing for Vietnam is to build small hydropower... Show More + plants (SHP) with capacity of 56 kW and local distribution lines for electrification in remote hamlets in the Muong Ye district, Lai Chu Province and to provide electricity to 198 households in six hamlets of the commune, including the new committee areas of Pa Ve Su. The initial environmental examination document evaluated impacts as follows : air quality; geographical location; topography; soil, climate, hydrological conditions; tress and natural vegetation cover and forest (evergreen forest); erosion; land use; fauna; solid waste disposal; and socio-economic condition of the local population. Suggested mitigation measures are : limit tree cutting and avoid cutting large and precious trees; during construction phase during dry days, soil will be watered to reduce dust emissions; solid waste (rocks, trees, roots, waste soil, human waste, etc.) generated by construction will be transported to a previously selected dump site; appropriate water drainage system must be designed and constructed to avoid sedimentation and soil erosion; install a toilets (washrooms) and domestic solid waste disposal at a convenient location for use by workers; provide labor safety equipment, such as gloves, boots, adequate clothing, gauze masks / respirators for construction workers; electrical installation must be done by experienced, trained and proficient electrical personnel; use of low noise-generating equipment and machinery is strongly recommended; and finally, coordinate with the local government of the commune and Muong Te District to organize training courses on the correct use of electricity for inhabitants, before they are supplied with electricity. Show Less -
