Negative impacts and their mitigation measures include: 1) the project will ensure to support culturally appropriate activities, including taking into account their language, livelihood practice, customs and traditions; 2) a process of free, prior and informed consultation with the effected people ethnic minority communities in order to full identify their views and to ascertain whether there is broad community support for the project; 3) ensure that local EMs are involved in the process of project design and implementation so that EM peoples receive social and economic benefits in a culturally appropriate manner and inclusive in both gender and intergenerational terms, and broad community support for the project; 4) upgrading tertiary infrastructure and services improvement in 31 LIAs (alley roads, water supply and drainage, lighting, garbage and solid waste collection and environmental hygiene). A total area of 413 ha, 7,234 households and 32,521 residents; and 5) based on consultations resettlement sites selected for relocated household were considered as to ensure response to the affected preferences and have the least impact to their livelihoods and income generating activities. Show Less -

Lack of legal documents prevent them to receive full compensation and livelihood restoration; 3) replacement of residential land and agricultural land as close to the place of acquired land for the project as possible and acceptable for APs; 4) transportation time and resettlement should be minimized and assisted to those APs one months prior the commencement schedule of works in each project area respectively; 5) plan for land acquisition, compensation and assistance should be done with the participation of the APs to minimize disturbance. The benefits must be provided for those APs before the commencement of each project area respectively; 6) financial resources and material for the resettlement should be prepared to respond when required; 8) implementation will ensure that the design, planning, consultation and implementation of resettlement plans effectively and on schedule; and 9) inspection, monitoring and timely assessment and effective implementation of the resettlement plan will be conducted. Show Less -

Some of the negative impacts of the project and their mitigation measures are: 1) acquisition of land and other assets, and resettlement of people will be minimized as much as possible; 2) all Displaced Persons (DP's) residing, working, doing business or cultivating land in right of way (ROW) of transmission line (TIL), surrounding areas of tower foundation, the substation areas, in the service road under the date of the baseline surveys are entitled to be provide with rehabilitation measures sufficient to assist them to improve or at least maintain their pre-project living standards, income earning capacity and production levels; 3) the rehabilitation measures to be provided are: (i) compensation at replacement cost, without deduction for depreciation or salvage materials for house and other structures; (ii) agricultural land for land of equal productive capacity acceptable to the DPs or in cash at replacement cost according to DP's choice; (iii) replacement of residential/premise land of equal size acceptable to DP or in cash at replacement cost according to DP's choice; and (iv) transfer and subsistence allowances; 4) replacement residential and agricultural land will be as nearby as possible to the land that was lost, and acceptable to the DPs; 5) plans for acquisition of land and other assets and provision of rehabilitation measures will be carried out in consultation with the DP's, to ensure minimal disturbance.
