The objective of the Renewable Energy
Development Project for Vietnam is to increase the supply of
least-cost electricity to the national grid from renewable

environmentally and socially sustainable manner. Negative
measures include: loss of agricultural, forestry, or
residential land; loss of structures and other fixed assets;
loss of tree and crops; and temporary loss of land.
Mitigation measures include: a) during the planning and
design stage attempts will be made to minimize acquisition
of land and other assets, and resettlement of people as much
as possible; b) plans for acquisition of land and other
assets and provision of rehabilitation measures will be
carried out in consultation with the Displaced Person (DP);
c) all DP will be compensated at full replacement cost for
the loss of land and other assets without depreciation and
transaction fee; d) the relocation sites will be provided
with improved, or at least the previous, level of community
services and resources; and e) financial and physical
resources for resettlement and rehabilitation will be made
