This progress report constitutes the third 'six-monthly' report for the Global Food Crisis Response Program (GFRP). The GFRP was launched sixteen months ago (on May... Show More + 29, 2008) to mitigate the harm of soaring food prices and help countries adapt to higher and more volatile prices. This report highlights progress made on implementing the GFRP, results achieved, emerging lessons and next steps. Section two presents an update of the World Bank's response to the food crisis. Section three summarizes results on the ground from GFRP operations and emerging lessons. A more in-depth review of implementation progress, results and lessons from some of the GFRP operations, selected to capture the diversity of interventions supported under the program under annex four supplements this section. Section four provides an update on food price trends and the global food security situation. Section five focuses on the World Bank's coordination of the food crisis with other development partners. Section six describes the progress on transitioning from the rapid response to the food crisis to the longer-term agenda on agriculture and food-security and presents the next steps.
