Country Manager Malawi,
Sandra Bloemenkamp, a Dutch national, joined the Bank in 1991 as advisor to the Bank’s Executive Director for the Netherlands. She was appointed Country Manager for Malawi in January 2010. Based in Lilongwe, she leads the country team in policy dialogue with the Government of Malawi, developing country assistance strategies, and overseeing overall implementation of country programs. She currently oversees a Malawi project portfolio of about $900 million, with a new CAS that will run till 2017. Her work experience in the Bank spans across Central Asia, Europe and Africa where she has done country management, overall program coordination, portfolio management, and as a technical expert with the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Department. Prior to joining the Bank, Ms. Bloemenkamp worked at the Ministry of Finance in the Netherlands as a financial sector advisor. Bloemenkamp holds a Master of Law degree from the Catholic University of Nijmegen.
