Rashmi Shankar is the Practice Manager for Trade & Competitiveness, West Africa. Rashmi has broad operational and client experience across various regions of the Bank. Prior to working with the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice, Rashmi served as a Program Leader in the ECA, South Caucasus Country Unit, where she worked on Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
She is a macro economist with deep operational experience and technical skills in trade, trade facilitation, poverty analytics and macro-micro linkages. In her current role as practice manager, she will focus on delivering the strategic priorities for Trade & Competitiveness in West Africa.
An American national, Rashmi joined the Bank in 1999 as a consultant, and has since held various positions including Country Economist for Costa Rica and Guatemala in LAC, Senior Country Economist for Azerbaijan in ECA.
