Nuno Mota Pinto is the Alternate Executive Director for Italy, Albania, Greece, Malta, Portugal, San Marino and Timor-Leste.
Mr. Mota Pinto received an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France and a M.Sc. (Economics), University of Coimbra, Portugal.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Mota Pinto worked at Banco Português de Investimento, S.A., a Lisbon-based investment bank in Portugal for a decade. He worked predominantly in the areas of investment and merchant banking activities. Prior to his nomination as Alternate Executive Director, he was Deputy Director at Project Finance/Institutional and Municipal Banking Department.
Mr. Mota Pinto also represents Portugal at the Global Environment Facility and advised on Portugal’s relation with the IMF in the context of the adjustment program co-financed by the Fund from 2011 to 2014. He was also Portugal’s representative in the Multilateral Investment Fund Council of donors and on some IDA replenishment processes.
He is a member of the consultative Group of the Director of the economics Department of Coimbra University, Portugal and of the Consultative Group of the Program of Partnership for Development of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Furthermore, Mr. Mota Pinto has participated in several civic and political movements and has published several op-eds and articles.
