Martin Gambrill


Martin is a Lead Water and Sanitation Specialist in the World Bank’s Water Global Practice, charged with leading the Global Practice’s urban and rural sanitation agenda. Prior to this Martin has worked at the Bank for two decades on the preparation and implementation of water, sanitation and urban development investment projects in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe.

Martin graduated from the University of Leeds in the UK with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and went on to obtain his PhD at Leeds on the treatment of tropical wastewater for safe effluent reuse in irrigation. He has over twenty-five years of experience with multi-lateral development agencies, non-governmental organizations, engineering consultants and in academic research.
