World Bank Country Manager, Africa

Katrina Sharkey is the World Bank Country Manager for Benin since the 1st of July 2015. An Irish national, Mrs. Sharkey began her career at the World Bank in 1984 in political operations. She has occupied several positions since then, the most recent of which was Country Program Coordinator for Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Togo. She previously held the same position for Gabon, Mali, Niger, and Chad. Specialized in public service and public finance management, she has over thirty years of experience in the field of development.

In Benin, Mrs. Sharkey has two main priorities: strengthening the partnership between Benin and the World Bank through sustained dialogue with the government, development partners, civil society, and the private sector on Benin’s development prospects; and supporting the implementation of projects and programs that make up the World Bank’s portfolio in Benin.
