Jan-Peter Olters, a German national, has been Country Manager in Kosovo since August 2011, wherein he leads the World Bank’s policy dialogue for Kosovo and manages overall program delivery.
Mr. Olters joined the World Bank in 2007, initially as head of the Country Office in Montenegro (2007–11), following a nine-year career at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During 2002–05, Mr. Olters was the IMF Resident Representative in Albania, after which period he worked on natural resource-related issues for oil-exporting countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Olters has also held teaching positions at McGill University and the Community College of Vermont. He has also worked in media, including as Co-Editor of World Economic Affairs.
Mr. Olters holds a doctorate degree in Economics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has published articles in refereed journals and authored other professional publications on topics related to political economy, macroeconomics, and natural resource economics. Mr. Olters speaks German, English, French and Albanian.
