Joëlle Dehasse assumed the position of new Country Manager for the World Bank in Niger on July 1, 2018. She previously served in the same role in Togo.

Ms. Dehasse, a US and Belgian national, joined the World Bank in 1995, and has a wealth of experience supporting operations in the Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, and Africa regions. She has since held the positions of Senior Operations Officer in West Africa for Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, and Niger (2006 to 2011), and Country Program Coordinator for the Maghreb region (2011 to 2015).

In her new position, Ms. Dehasse will focus on strengthening the partnership between the World Bank and Niger through sustained dialogue with national authorities, development partners, and civil society; ensuring the successful implementation of the new Country Partnership Framework for Niger; and improving the performance of the Bank’s portfolio. She will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the World Bank’s Country Office in Niamey.
