Joelle Businger is the country manager for the World Bank Group in Togo since August 2015. A US national, she joined the Bank in 1995 working in agriculture and environment at the Economic Development Institute. She has since held various positions within the Bank, working at as the senior operations officer for Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire from 2006 to 2011, and as country program coordinator for the Maghreb region from 2011 to 2015.

In Togo, Businger has two main priorities: strengthening the partnership between Togo and the World Bank through sustained dialogue with the government on the country’s development policies well as the coordination of World Bank Group projects and programs; and playing a strategic role in the formulation and implementation of the new Country Partnership Framework, which will be the first World Bank strategy for Togo over the midterm since its re-engagement with the country in 2008.
