Goran Tinjic

Program Manager for Southern Europe ECCEU, Europe and Central Asia

Goran joined the World Bank in 1996 and had since contributed to a number of Bank financed operations in Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region, as well as strategy formulation across the Western Balkans and the EU member states. At the beginning of his career in the Bank, he led the team that implemented the microfinance operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina which was recognized as international best practice in supporting development of a sustainable microfinance industry.

Goran led or contributed to the Bank financed operations in the areas of community development, local development, social protection and employment services, and disaster risk response and management. Finally, he led teams who supported the preparation of the poverty reduction strategies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, and authored or coauthored the Country engagement products (Country Partnership Strategies, Performance and Learning Reviews, and Completions and Learning Reviews) in several Western Balkan countries. During 2015, he acted as the Country Manager in North Macedonia. Since 2014, he has been an Operations Trainer and delivered operations clinics and courses such as Fundamentals of Bank Operations, New Staff Orientation program, and IPF Academy. He is also an agile champion and a coach. 

Goran currently works in the ECCEU as the Program Manager for Southern Europe EU member states, where he oversees and supports the vibrant program of advisory services and technical assistance. Goran also leads the Brussels based team responsible for the overall partnership between the World Bank and the European Commission in ECA Region.

Goran holds a master’s degree in public policy and management from the School of Oriental and African Studies’ Center for Financial Management Studies – University of London, and a bachelor’s degree in politics and international relations from the London School of Economics – University of London.
