Gevorg Sargsyan is Operations Manager for Myanmar, Cambodia, and Lao PDR, based in Yangon, Myanmar.
Sargsyan, an Armenian national, joined the World Bank in 2000 as an Operations Officer in Infrastructure & Energy Services Department. He has since held various positions working across sectors and regions. His most recent assignment being Program Manager for Climate Finance and Global Lead of Clean Energy at the Energy and Extractives Global Practice, where he was responsible for renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon capture and storage business lines. Sargsyan was also overseeing clean energy investments financed by various climate funds. During his 17 years of experience at the World Bank, he has led energy and infrastructure programs in India, Russia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Armenia and Georgia, and worked in a number of other countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Prior to joining the Bank, he worked as a manager in various private and public sector organizations. He is the author and co-author of a number of publications and papers in the area of clean energy and infrastructure finance. He has an M.S. in applied math, and a Ph.D. (ABD) in economics.
