Chorching Goh, born, raised, and schooled in Penang, Malaysia, has been Lead Economist in Ethiopia since September 2010. Before joining the Ethiopia team, she was senior economist in the Europe and Central Asia region. She joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 1999, working on health, nutrition, and education issues at the Independent Evaluation Group. During 2001-2007, her work program in East Asia included poverty, inequality, labor market, and social sector issues.
She is part of the World Development Report 2009 core team. She holds simultaneous BA and MA degrees, summa cum laude, from Yale University, and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
