Prior to this position Agata lived and worked in Ethiopia and in Kazakhstan. In the Bank’s Ethiopia Country Office in Addis Ababa, she managed a multi-billion dollar WB portfolio, led the preparation of the Ethiopia Country Partnership Strategy FY13 - FY16 as well as other analytical and technical work. In Central Asia, she was based in Almaty, Kazakhstan where she managed a dynamic and rapidly expanding WB lending portfolio in four Central Asian economies. She was also a Country Manager for Turkmenistan where she led the WB re-engagement program.
Agata joined the Bank in 1998 as a Young Professional and spent her first 8 years working as a Senior Economist in Europe and Central Asia region, department of Poverty Reduction and Economic Management and then in the Africa Private and Financial Sector Development Department. From 2007 to 2011 she worked in the Finance Resource Management Department that has managed IDA15 and IDA16 replenishment. Before joining the Bank, Agata worked as a business consultant in an international consultancy firm based in London, UK as well as a lecturer at the University of Lodz in Poland.
Agata holds a PhD degree and MSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham, England and an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Lodz, Poland. She speaks Polish, English and Russian.
