The conference was a novel way of using internet to discuss on current issues. It has contributed a great deal of ideas. Though, it appears that the conference did not contribute much towards a conceptual clarity on issues related to access to treatment in developing countries. Access to treatment is not an issue of resources alone. It may be necessary to work towards a framework for action for access to HIV treatment in developing countries. I would suggest the goal of access to treatment action in developing countries as to identify strategies for rapid diffusion of Advanced AIDS treatment and technologies in the developing countries.

This involves

1) Identifying barriers to access to treatment

2) Discussing how to address those barriers

3) Understanding access to treatment as a human right (to live) issue

4) Identifying the profiteering behavior of Pharmaceutical companies on AIDS medication (AIDS research is done with public money).

5) Identifying the geographical and other bias in the distribution pattern of AIDS medication and technologies

6) Identifying the extent of duties/tax on AIDS medication which contribute to the high cost of medicine).

7) Understanding the impact of placing AIDS medication on trade sanctions list.

8) An immediate removal of AIDS related medicine and technology from all trade sanctions

9) Demanding to change AIDS related patent rights to a shorter period (2- 5 years).

10) Demanding Galxo welcome to re-examine their patent monopoly on AZT

11) Understanding HIV treatment issues as an issue of just trade not as an act of charity

12) Identifying strategies for rapid diffusion of AIDS technology and medication in the developed countries

13) Requesting UNAIDS to initiate an HIV related bio-medical technology transfer initiative

14) Treating investment on HIV prevention and care as global investment.

15) Extending compassionate treatment option to the PWA in developing countries

16) Highlighting the lack of political will of northern agencies to took at ways and means to facilitate rapid diffusion of AIDS related treatment and medication in the developed countries.

17) Understanding the scope of medical pluralism to address the treatment needs of PWAs in developing countries.
