Looking to the future

The success of the NETF has the Norwegian government looking to ways to ensure the Fund’s sustainability on a longer term basis. NETF financing will continue to focus on assisting countries prepare education sector programs. Within this framework, particular areas of focus in the near future will be education of HIV/AIDS Orphans, alternative forms of education to reach poor and marginalized children, the improvement of learning outcomes through improvement in education quality, and general secondary education to help countries address increased demand as a result of EFA. Since its inception, the Fund has supported the type of analytical work that has now become recognized as an important and indispensable part of the FTI; and the Norwegian government has declared its interest in continued support for this aspect of the FTI. NETF financing will continue to give priority activities conducted in a way that strengthen national capacities and that promote increased synergy between the support provided by different development partners.
