New Action Plan for 2005 and Beyond
     
    1. Scaling up successful IK practices that could help achieve the MDGs;
:   2. Enhancing the capacity of local communities to develop, share and apply their indigenous knowledge systems by, among other things
   
  • developing national IK strategies and incorporating them into country poverty reduction programs;
  • brokering of South-South knowledge and learning exchanges;
  • facilitating community-to-community exchanges;
  • building professional associations of indigenous practitioners, and
  • supporting communities to develop businesses related to IK.
    3. Developing innovative tools for the validation and protection of IK;
    4. Designing a results framework for monitoring IK and measuring its impact;
    5. Establishing an innovation fund to promote successful IK practices; and
    6. Organizing a Global IK Conference to galvanize support of the development partners for the above agenda
