East
Asia and Pacific Region (EAP)
In 2002 the Africa Region Debriefing Program
helped the EAP Region set up their own Debriefing
service to better target the needs of their
staff. This successful partnership facilitated
a number of debriefings which can be accessed
from their internal EAP Debriefing website.
This type of exchange has also been used in
their more recent service, called "Reflections",
which focuses primarily on interviewing Task
Managers.
East Asia
Learning Tour
A multi-sectoral team of about 30 Africa Region staff completed
a learning tour of five East Asian countries
in order to better understand Asian development
success factors. The main objective of this
kind of learning across regions is to enable
staff to provide better quality service to clients
by helping expand staff's knowledge of successful
development practices. The
learning tour used debriefing techniques to
capture staff learning (e.g. what best practices
are relevant to Africa; what adaptation will
be required to make these practices realistic
in the African context, etc.) for wider dissemination
in the Africa Region and beyond. Bank staff
may visit the East
Asia Learning Tour Website for more information.

South
Asia Learning Tour
A team of Bank staff and East African country
practitioners participated in a study tour of
Sri Lanka and India to learn how projects in
South Asia have worked with communities and
integrated indigenous knowledge into development
programs. The study tour focused on developing
cross regional partnerships through knowledge
sharing and learning exchanges which were facilitated
by the debriefing program. Bank
staff may visit the South Asia
Learning Tour Website for more information.
